Hi, I’m Renee and I am an aspiring photographer, social media curator and web designer. I was born in El Paso, Texas and lived there for 16 years until my life got uprooted to Austin, Texas in 2012. I am a recent graduate from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Digital Media Innovation and Mass Communication with a minor in Communication Studies. Through effective time management and unwavering determination I managed to graduate a semester early with titles such as, Assistant Social Media Administrator, Staff Photographer, and Web Developer.
In less than a year, I was able to add all these titles onto my resume. I worked for both the student-run radio station at Texas State University, KTSW FM-89.9, and the student-run newspaper, The University Star. During this time, I was awarded “Rookie of the Semester” for my social media contributions for KTSW. I also took the picture that now serves as the cover photo on KTSW’s Facebook and Twitter pages. As a staff photographer, I created four galleries for KTSW that show my creative eye. Most of my photography has focused on music photography including live shots and portraits. Although music is an important aspect of my life, I try to diversify my photography focus to include landscape and street photography as well. I have interned with Emmis Austin Radio as a Digital Sales intern, where I learned more of the marketing and sales perspective behind social media. I worked with various clients to help build effect ad units that emphasized their brand identity. After college, I interned with On Vinyl Media as an Editorial and Music Journalist. I had many roles, including photography, music reviewer, social media contributor, marketing strategist, and I helped the CEO with finding more ways to fund the company.
During my free time, I enjoy going on hikes with my Dutch shepherd, Morrison. I also enjoy running, yoga, reading, spending time with my family and friends and attending music concerts.
